There are specific requirements on Occupational First Aid made under Chapter 2 of Part 7 of the General Application Regulations 2007.
This First Aid Response (FAR) training standard is the recognised standard for occupational first aid in workplaces and is the only first aid certificate recognised by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
Upon successful completion of this course, the learners knowledge will be revised on the following key elements;
- Recognise and Assess the causes and effects of sudden illness and/or injury in a prehospital environment and call for emergency medical services
- React to such pre-hospital emergencies utilising PHECC CPGs
- Respond in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner to such emergencies utilising the First
Aid Response skill set and in accordance with PHECC CPGs as part of the pre-hospital
continuum of care - Record and Report actions and interventions taken while responding to and managing such
incidents and during handover to emergency medical services - Retain a caring attitude in their role as First Aid Responders
Course Information:
- Course duration is 2 days
- Maximum of 8 learners per course
- Learners will be re-issued a new PHECC FAR certificate which is valid for 2 years from date of issue
